Mashable tells us that Japan set the new record for tweets per second almost 7,000! Twitter claims this is almost twice the previous record of 3,283 tweets per second, wow. Twitter created a cool map showing the twitter activity spreading across the country as 2011 kicked off. Whether it was tweeting about your 2010 or wishing your followers a happy new year, twitter users welcomed in the new year. Congratulations Twitter, great way to begin the new year!
